The Kingdom
An Island Made Home
Humans first reached Tidefall more than 450 years ago, drawn by its mineral wealth. Their settlements spread into Dothloden territory, bringing war with the declining dwarven empire. Armund Veloricus united the settlements into the Kingdom and secured a fragile peace. The dwarves withdrew into their mountain holds, while humans and Goruks continued to contest the lowlands.
Forests became timber, hills became quarries, and roads connected growing towns to ports and farms. Dwarves, half-orcs and elfin made homes alongside humans. The Storm has since cut these communities off from the wider world, leaving them increasingly dependent on one another.
Kingdoms & CitiesThe Goruk War
Fifty years ago, King Aleron I gathered the island’s greatest warriors for a campaign against the Goruk clans. After routing them in battle, he led his heir and army in pursuit deep into the Darkveld. None returned. Tidefall lost its King, its successor and the fighting strength of a generation. Soon afterwards, the Storm closed around the island.
Aleron’s infant grandson inherited a kingdom stripped of its leadership and defenders. The Grand Council took power in his name, raising statues to the lost King while strengthening their own positions. Official accounts celebrated his final campaign, but another story spread: that the cornered Goruks had broken an ancient seal deep within the forest.
