King Aleron II
Aleron inherited the throne as an infant after his grandfather and father disappeared during a campaign in the Darkveld. The Storm arrived soon afterwards, leaving the kingdom isolated during a long regency.
He grew up while powerful families governed in his name. His reign spans almost the entire period of the Storm, and most younger subjects have known no other king.
The Grand Council
The Grand Council governed during Aleron II’s childhood. By the time he took his place at its head, its nobles had spent decades strengthening their own families. The King now presides over a council accustomed to ruling without him. Seven provincial lords have become eleven, each pursuing interests that often outweigh loyalty to the Crown. Across Tidefall, a local lord’s demands carry more weight than decisions made in Highwater. A thirteenth chair stands permanently empty, symbolising the watchful presence of the Mansor.
