The Closed Mines

Ebstone once supplied Sarnath with stone, silver and precious minerals. Now the miners crowd the tavern as Skarids occupy the workings that fed their families. Sarnath still demands its share, yet offers little help driving them out or protecting the surrounding farms.

The Ebstone Peninsula

Rain-soaked Ebstone lies on Tidefall’s southwestern coast, its village standing beside the River Ebb between rocky hills and the farms of the Ebside Bogs. Seagaze Road winds west through the mining country, with tracks branching towards abandoned workings and the old holy sites of Stony Holt.

Fishing hamlets line the northern Snarling Coast, while wrecks gather beneath the Shipbreaker cliffs to the south and pilgrims make their way to Stormpoint. Across the Ebb, the dead patrol the road through Ebonwood. With river trade halted too, the peninsula’s miners, farmers and fisherfolk have few routes left to sell their goods or bring supplies home.

The Last Working Quarry

Blackstone Quarry is the last of Ebstone’s quarries still at work, cutting the granite that helped build Sarnath’s Black Keep. Its dwindling trade cannot support the whole region, and Foreman Loroc Waters wants the abandoned workings reopened. He has plans for their restoration and miners ready to return, but first needs help making the sites safe enough to work again.

The Skarids’ Claim

To the Skarids, the abandoned mines are homes, hunting grounds and places of worship. Scarlet Skarids blacken Aldspar’s hillsides with fire, hiding traps among the broken timbers. At Doggindale, Silver Skarids chant beneath carved stone arches and take captives for their lindwyrm rites. Bluestone’s raiders haul meat and stolen goods into the hills, while rivalries between the groups spill beyond the tunnels and leave nearby farms stripped of livestock.

The Skarid Chieftains

Singing in Chaindeep

A strange song rises through Chaindeep’s great shaft, past rusted chains and the remains of the miners’ scaffolding. Locals believe Saint Godeca’s lost tomb lies at its source. The blue-robed worshippers camped inside claim to hear the heart of the Storm, and their priest, the Listener, urges them deeper. Below them, Chieftain Ashkodeka’s Skarids defend the lower workings. Anyone seeking the song’s source must descend through territory both groups want for themselves.

Welkenbare’s Last Days

An arch marked “Prosperity” still stands above Welkenbare’s rotting bunkhouses and tool sheds. Beyond it, mist fills the quarry terraces as tremors shake stones loose from the walls. Nobody has worked here since the Storm arrived, but the miners’ ledgers, maps and letters remain in the abandoned buildings, preserving an account of the quarry’s final days for anyone willing to search them.

The Mist at Welkenbare

The Farms Left Outside

Bogfield’s farmers carry swords to work and patrol their barns at night, defending livestock and stores from Skarid raids while the Guard refuses to venture out. In the Howling Hills, a Brulgorg has torn buildings from their foundations and left an entire farmstead in ruins. Skarids now shelter in the wreckage. The families feeding Ebstone need protection as urgently as the miners need their workings back.
