Back to Ebstone

The Village of Ebstone

Ebstone once supplied the stone that built Sarnath. Now its mines are claimed, its farms are raided and its barges sit idle. Pilgrims pass through on their way to the Storm, while villagers search for anyone willing to take the jobs their own Guard refuses.

The Golden Pick Tavern

A warm room, strong ale and a noticeboard full of trouble. Tabatha Greystone hears every complaint, from stolen livestock to missing miners. She challenges the council when it abandons the people outside the village. For newcomers looking for work, the Golden Pick is the place to start.

The Council & Its Rivals

Headman Gneiss Elbridge keeps Sarnath paid and the village out of open rebellion. Ganla Brewster thinks his caution has cost Ebstone its coast, its trade and its independence. The treasury is dwindling, the mines need reopening and every decision creates someone with a reason to oppose it.

Clayton’s Forge

Clayton Fairhair supplies the Guard with weapons and armour, then listens to them explain why they cannot help. A blacksmith and council quartermaster, he favours practical action. With raiders at the farms and creatures in the mines, there is no shortage of work for a well-made blade.

Ebstone Shrine

Dorian Andis keeps the candles burning for Saint Godeca, funding the shrine through tailoring and tanning. The Minister of Grace wants the roads to Stony Holt made safe and its disturbed shrines investigated. He offers a welcome to those seeking repentance, but little patience for desecration.

Stony Holt Temple

The old temple still offers shelter, if you can reach it. Wolves and highwaymen keep villagers from its doors, leaving shepherds and wanderers to share the lonely sanctuary. Dorian hopes to restore services here. First, someone must make the journey safe enough for the faithful to follow.

Stony Holt Gardens & Quarry

Disturbed shrines, strange digging and a flooded quarry trouble the people who still visit Stony Holt. Dorian wants the dead left at peace. Others are more interested in what might be recovered from the water. The old holy ground has begun attracting the wrong kind of attention.

Stonegrave Manor

The former governor’s manor stands empty, its sale notice faded beyond reading. Even the council refuses to enter. Villagers report lights behind broken windows and cries that scatter the birds. Whatever happened here has left Ebstone with a house nobody wants to claim.
